While out riding my bike a few weeks ago, I saw a path I had yet to explore but had spent a year telling myself that one day I would check it out. Well, that one day had arrived and I started up the path.
When I posted on Facebook that I had at last traveled that path, I was asked where it led. I had to admit, the destination was uneventful. It simply led to a higher view point of the same things I could see from the lower path. But for me, the joy was in the ride itself. It was a more challenging ride due to both the terrain and the steeper climb. It felt good to try something new, to test myself, and to explore the unknown. For me, there is excitement in not knowing what is around the next bend.
Too often we get comfortable in the routine of doing the same things day in and day out. And for the most part, it works well for us. It gets us out the door and to work on time. We feel safe and secure to know what is around the next bend. It’s predictable. Yet too much routine can feel like we are stuck in a rut.
I challenge you to put more joy in your journey. Get out there and explore life. Try something new. Shake things up a little. Have fun! Post your intention by commenting here. Once you do it, celebrate. Remember, life begins at the edge of your comfort zone.
